DOP 3000 series
Advanced Compute Package:
In its standard
functioning mode, the DOP3000 computes and displays a velocity and the echo
profile. This option package enables the instrument to show many more relevant
measures that helps to characterize the liquid and its flow. Among them are
the energy of the filtered echo, the velocity of a chosen gate as a function
of time, the flow across a section of a pipe, the profile of the turbulence
of the flow, and a remanence color graphic showing an history of a profile.
The curves
that can be computed and displayed when this package is installed are the following:
- Velocity profile:
Computes and displays a profile of the projected
velocities along the ultrasonic axis. Also called V(z). Defined in mm/s.
- Echo profile:
Enables to display the raw echo profile received by the transducer. Helps
find disturbing stationary echoes (most of them are filtered by an IIR filter).
Also called Echo(z). No unit, relative scale.
- Energy profile:
Displays the energy of the echo profile, filtered by the infinite impulse
response filter. Also called Energy(z). No unit, relative scale.
- V(t):
Velocity as a function of time for a selected gate. Defined in mm/s.
- Flow:
Computes a flow across a circular section as a function of time. Based on
a weighted integrating computation on velocity profiles. Also called Flow(t).
Defined in mm3/s.
- Turbulence
profile: Computes a profile made of the turbulence of the velocity, gate
by gate. Can either be computed using a moving average (for non-stationary
flows) or a global average (for stationary flows).
- Histogram:
A remanence color graphic showing an history of either a velocity, echo or
energy profile can be displayed.
- Power spectrum of
a single gate: This display gives a detail information on the spectral
content of the echoes coming from a defined gate
Some additionnal features
of this software package are:
- Selectable number
of emissions per profile: this allows to precisely adapt the acquisition
rate and the quality of the measured profiles in case of non assisted operating
mode
- Variable origin of
the velocity scale: this allows to give more space to positive or negative
velocities
- Real time filters
available: A
moving average filter or a mediane filter can be applied on any displayed
profile in order to reduce the variance of the measurement.
- Cursors on graphs
available: which display the velocity and depth value, and their statistical
values ((mean, standard deviation, minimum, maximum). The cursors always follow
the curve.
Various combinations of
the above curves can be displayed at the same time, either in the same graphic
zone, or each one in its own graphic zone.
