The DOP4000 is a compact pulsed ultrasonic Doppler velocimeter and ultrasonic velocity profiler designed for reliable real-time velocity profile measurements in liquids and multiphase flows. It is especially well suited for challenging acoustic environments (strong wall echoes, reflective boundaries, constrained geometries) thanks to dedicated signal conditioning and robust processing. With quasi-simultaneous 4-channel acquisition and optional 2D/3D UDV capabilities, the DOP4000 is an efficient solution for laboratory research and industrial diagnostics where stable profiling matters.
The DOP4000 connects to an external PC via USB and is operated through the UDOP software, which provides assisted setup and advanced manual control. It is built for fast deployment in laboratory benches, pilot rigs, and industrial test setups.
The probe can be positioned directly in the liquid or mounted outside the container for non-intrusive velocity profiling through walls using acoustic coupling gel. This is particularly useful when contamination must be avoided or when access is limited.
UDOP helps you quickly select a stable configuration (depth range, PRF, sensitivity, gate spacing) and reduces manual trial-and-error. When needed, expert users can override the assisted settings to fine-tune parameters for reflective boundaries and low-echo conditions.
The DOP4000 includes special electronic circuitry called the dynamic extender, which extends the dynamic range of the incoming Doppler signals that can be analyzed. This circuitry is especially effective in the presence of strong stationary echoes, for instance from walls or reflections inside high-temperature sensor systems. It can improve the usable dynamic range by about 16 dB. The dynamic extender can be switched on or off, depending on the measurement conditions.
The DOP4000 is a pulsed ultrasonic velocity profiler that measures spatially resolved velocity profiles in liquids. The transducer emits short ultrasonic bursts at a defined pulse repetition frequency (PRF), and the instrument processes the echoes backscattered by particles or seeded tracers in the flow.
By sampling echoes at precise times after each emission, the system builds measurement gates along the ultrasonic beam and computes the velocity profile in real time. This approach enables detailed velocity profiling for laboratory research and industrial flow diagnostics.
More information on the working principleMany practical measurements involve strong stationary echoes (for example from container walls or interfaces). The DOP4000 is designed to maintain stable ultrasonic Doppler measurements and reliable velocity profiles even in demanding acoustic environments.
Combined with flexible configuration in UDOP, this helps users optimize profiling performance for low signal levels, reflective boundaries, and multiphase flows while preserving high spatial resolution.
The DOP4000 is ideal when you need a compact ultrasonic velocity profiler with robust performance in reflective setups, limited space, or when 4 channels are sufficient for your measurement strategy.
Yes. The DOP4000 is designed for stable profiling in the presence of strong stationary echoes, such as those created by container walls, interfaces, or reflective internals.
Yes. It can measure velocity profiles in clear liquids, weakly seeded flows, and many particle-laden or multiphase conditions, depending on attenuation and scattering level.
Yes. With proper acoustic coupling gel, non-intrusive measurements through container walls are possible, which helps keep the flow undisturbed and avoids contamination.
